Who Should be in the New Avenger for the MCU

With the Avengers saga pretty much coming to a close with the events of Endgame, with Tony sacrificing himself to get rid of Thanos and Cap possibly changing the space time continuum, two of the biggest stars are out (with one possibly returning) and the Avengers seem to be looking for a new team and I’m going to try and create a roster for them, as well as a leader for them that maybe the best choice for the team.

But first I am going to run through a few characters that I think could also end up on the team. The first is Spider-Man for the fact that he is the most easily marketable character that Marvel has and depending on what the future holds for Disney and Sony means that we might only be able to see Spidey for one or two more appearances after the events of Spider-Man 3 (what ever the sub-title will be). Doctor Strange will be the second since he is still a new character as well being a holder of the Time Gem so he will be there to pretty much help them possibly if they need a do-over but more importantly saying that time isn’t a play thing for people to use. Prof Hulk is the third character that I’m going to add to the team but with more of a supportive role than having a larger bit to play. I think that he will be used to help along with another entry on the list to help the Avengers with new tech to help them against new enemies in which they haven’t faced before. Plus he’s also going to be support for another character as well for going through a tough period.

1: Cpt Marvel (Carol Danvers): I’m going to go Cpt Marvel as more of a replacement for a heavy hitter for the team since there wont be a Hulk on the main team, since I think that Endgame helped give Hulk a rather decent send off, but he won’t be away from the team for the majority of the time and acting as an advisor for the team. Danvers has a lot of good points, the ability to absorb energy will help a lot with tech based and alien adversaries and the fact that she has been doing the hero thing throughout space means that she has a lot more knowledge when it also comes to dealing with threats. But the thing that I will not to is make her the leader of the team since I have somebody else in mind for the time being.

2: Hawkeye (Lila Barton): Now I’m thinking that this would take us up a lot later in the latest phase and that there will be time passing as there would be in real life, so I decided to replace Clint Barton with his daughter since that during the events of Endgame, we did see him and Lila practicing. After the events of Endgame, I’m going to say that Clint trained her to be better than him, in this way he can retire in peace and possibly be brought back later on under the guise of Ronin or even as Hawkeye as well. Lila would also help with a younger target audience since she would be at least late teens to early twenties when this team would form.

3&4: Cpt America (Sam Wilson) & Winter Solider: It’s an Avengers team and you can bet that there is going to be a Cpt America on this. With this being most likely set over the events of the Falcon/Winter Soldier series, I think that it’s when Sam accepts what Steve had given him and dons the mantle at the end of the series. I’m also going to add Winter Soldier to this as well since that through the series they are going to develop a good brotherly bond, in the same way that Bucky and Steve had, it does sound rather boring but that way they are able to uses a lot of double team moves that they can use to take down enemies.

5: Black Panther (T’Chala): Going to keep Black Panther on the team as well since there are a lot of good things that come with him. The first he is a good capable brawler and I think that he could also take on Cpt Marvel. The second is with him being the king of Wakanda it also gives them access to a lot of better tech to use, even better than Tony’s. For instant I think that T’Chala will be the one that is going to create a new costume for Sam, remodelling his current suit, changing the colours to resemble Cap’s colours and design and infusing it with vibranium to make it resistant to a lot of things.

6: Odinson: And for the last member of the team is going to be Odinson, for those who don’t know that name, it’s Thor but without his hammer. This is going along the line that in Thor: Love & Thunder is that Jane Foster is going to take the mantle of Thor and go on for her story whilst Odinson will take the leadership for the Avengers. With this Odinson will be the only original member left from the Avengers, so he knows what it is like to be in a team and being a leader, it gives him a sense of purpose. Plus, since that, according to the Ragnarok, Odison will still have the lightning ability since his hammer was a conduit for it so he also gets to keep his axe, Stormbreaker, which I think is a better weapon than what Mjölnir is. With me also adding Prof Hulk as a supporting role will be able to help Odinson when he is going through any some sort of crisis with him being a friend that he can trust.

So, that’s who I would have in my version for the New Avengers. Who would you see in your team, leave them in the comments down below.

Introducing the X-Men to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Recently there has been a Easter Egg that has been found in Thor: The Dark World, in which a board in which Erik Selvig has a lot of things wrote down and one of the things wrote down has to do with the Brood and an Omega Level mutant called Vulcan. This has had me thinking, a lot since before and after the Disney merger, what would be a good way to introduce the X-Men over into the current MCU and my three ideas on how it could be done.

1: Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness: With this also been tied in with the events of WandaVision it does have me thinking, could Wanda be the person that could end up creating a ‘House of M’ scenario, in which her powers go haywire and creates rips in the multiverse in which we get to see the introduction for X-Men characters as well as the Fantastic Four creating a world in which those characters exist. But at the end of this the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters are integrated into the MCU and this way we can get new stories with characters that are established with each other and us getting no long-winded ensemble stories. I doubt that this is going to happen that way, but I do think that this film is going to be the one that introduces of the two groups.

2: Secret War Pt 1&2: This one is an idea that I prefer over the Doctor Strange idea since that this could also introduce characters a lot easier than before to create a story. First is this the current phase Marvel films we have a few films (Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, Thor: Love & Thunder and Guardians 3) in which in the post credit scenes we see heroes and or villains interacting with a mysterious device in which they get teleported somewhere. The film opens with the heroes that got teleported along with heroes from two other groups: The X-Men and Fantastic Four along with villains as well from each respective team. In the first film there will be quite a bit of backstory for the X-Men and FF, detailing on them and their villains so that there are reasons for them being there. And just like with the comic book of the same name the world that they are on are an amalgamation of different worlds that the Beyonder has summoned. In the end we will have a character use the wish to send everybody back to their times but for some reasoning the Beyonder is unable to send the X-Men and Fantastic Four back to their universe for some reason as if he is blocked by something even more powerful and he decides to send them to the MCU earth in which they are integrated with the heroes and villains.

3: Time Displaced X-Men: Now with this one I am going to take an idea that had happened in the comics over the past few years and take adapt it. The idea that I am going with is that of the team All New X-Men, in which Beast went back in time to get the help of the original X-Men as teens and brought them to the present to help fix problems that have occurred with the other X-Men teams. My idea is that we have a X-Men team (Prof Xavier, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, Wolverine, Angel, Beast and Storm) from the mid to late-90’s and they get into a fight with the Brotherhood of Mutants (Magneto, Mystique, Pyro, Rouge, Havok, Psylocke and Juggernaut) who manage to create a rip in the multiverse and the two teams get teleported into a different Earth, the Earth of the MCU, they manage to defeat the Brotherhood but they can’t get back to there home universe and then we see Nic Fury and Phil Coulson appear and help them settle into their new home by placing them in a secret SHIELD facility since the world isn’t ready yet for a world of mutants. Fury sends them to a remote island where they are able to build up a community with some of the ex-members of the Brotherhood and Xavier and Beast create a new Cerebro and starts looking for mutants in this new universe. This also could be logical, especially in the wake of Captain Marvel in which Fury had something in his back pocket and that a majority of the X-Men got hit with the Snap (I am not calling it the bloop as they said in FFH) and when they came back, they decide that it’s time for them to make themselves known.

So that is three ideas that I had for how Marvel could introduced the X-Men and all I know is that I will be looking forward on seeing how they would introduce them into the MCU.

Star Wars Month: The Good, The Bad and The Last Jedi

I am going to keep this review to be on the shorter side, the first being that I am rushing this since that I haven’t had much time to get down to writing it. The second reason why I am rushing it is because I still need to write three more posts that I want to get out before the end of the year.

The Good: There really isn’t that much good that I can say about this film. But the good that I can say about it has to do with Rey and Kylo Ren, through the first two acts of the movie Rey and Kylo were communicating, thanks to Snoke, about what had happened between him and Luke since that Luke is now living on an island in the middle of nowhere because of the decision that he made. The whole sequence for this is as a storytelling engine is rather well done and it did seem that Rey had hope in what she was doing, trying to change Kylo’s motives, but that doesn’t really go well.

Then we have the next part of the Rey/Kylo story and that is when Rey boards Snoke’s ship and we have a confrontation in which Kylo is ordered to strike down Rey to become more powerful but Kylo manages to use Rey’s own Lightsaber, which Snoke took from her, and kills Snoke giving Kylo command of the First Order and leading the attack against the Resistance. But there is something that I did like and that was the fight between Kylo, Rey and Snoke’s Guards since that one the fight was rather well done and two the Guards looked awesome with their own individual weapons.

The Bad: The rest of the movie was rather bad. Poe’s mutiny of the transport ships was one of the dumbest things that I have seen in a long time in the Star Wars universe since that he had pretty much cost them a lot of people and resources that they needed.

Finn and Rose’s mission to get access to Snoke’s ship, even though was a good plan to do just seemed to be the biggest waste of time since that it pretty much summed up in nothing rather major happening, they get crossed by the person that was helping them get access to Snoke’s ship. Rose ends up nearly killing herself by knocking Finn of course from a suicide run that would have seen the First Order down a piece of heavy tech, but no she could have also easily have killed Finn in the collision as well which just makes me think that the character of Rose is full of dumb decisions.

Hux was just Hux. A rather useless character that could have been easily axed off in the destruction of the command ship.

One of the biggest things that bugged me about the film and what was also a problem for fans but also the person who played him was the way that they had handled Luke for the film. The way that Luke was wrote for the film made him seem to be the most distant character that there could have ever been. He almost seemed to be a shell of his former self since that Luke was one of the main figure heads of the Rebel Alliance, a symbol of hope, but now that hope was gone which just seemed to be rather disappointing that the same person didn’t want to help against the First Order. But there were some rather good scenes that Luke did have and that was the flashbacks that were in the Rey/Kylo story, his conversation with Yoda and the standoff he had against Kylo.

Overall: I think that this film had could have had potential to be a good movie, however it didn’t come over the way that it did. It does however make me happier that JJ Abrams is back for Episode IX but more anxious about that is going to come after with Rhian Johnsons trilogy that he has planned.

Rating 6/10

Is LEGO Batman a Good Film?

It has been over a week since that I have seen the LEGO Batman film and seen what people think of the film and I really don’t see why people like this film to give it high ratings. For me I thought at first that it was rather good but after sifting through my thoughts I turned it down from an 8/10 to a 6/10. These are the reasons that I turned this down was for a few reasons.

The first is that the plot just seems rather stupid, even more so for either a superhero and a LEGO story, with The Joker wanting to be sent to the Phantom Zone since that’s where the biggest threats are being held prisoner. It really seems to be the most confusing thing that was going to happen since that it mainly relied on Batman being more of a dick by breaking into the Fortress of Solitude to steal a device to teleport him there.

My second reason that I rated this down was that it seemed to be rather full of references and parodies and it did rather annoy me. The first was the roll calling at the beginning of the film where Joker was spewing off the number of villains that were there and it just seemed to be absurd. There were so many stupid villains that they decided to add in and some that haven’t seen much screen time for years in any media. Plus, there was also references to the previous Batman films and this also included the original Batman show (before Adam West’s series) I thought that was a nice touch but for the film it didn’t really do anything for the film.

My third reason why I rated this down was Batman. I found this to be one of the worst portrayals of Batman possibly to date. Through the entire film, Batman just came off just as a total jerk to pretty much anyone, he was a jerk to Alfred, he was a jerk to Dick and he even was a jerk to Joker for most of the film until the very end of the film. For me Batman is somebody that took his time to train up people to become better either as a fighter or as a detective and somebody that is willing to team up. But this Batman just rather doesn’t. He did tell Dick what to do to get the Phantom Zone gun but Dick had already told him before that he was already trained up just out of nowhere. The weirdest thing that I got off this Batman and something that I even told my friend that I saw it with was that this Batman seemed to be like drawing a lot of similarities from Frank Millers All Star Batman and that was one of the worst Batman interpretations I think people have ever read. Also, I think that Batman’s beat boxing and rapping was the worst thing about the film, it wasn’t funny and it felt rather stupid.

The fourth reason that I rated this down was that the film pretty much ignored the Justice League after their cameo. When the Joker brought his army of other licenced LEGO villains from the Phantom Zone the Justice League were nowhere around to help deal with the problem. You have Superman who can hear things happening around the world and Cyborg who can source information from the internet and they didn’t know anything that was happening I really do call that bull shit to the highest level. It is something that annoys me and reiterates the Frank Miller Batman preferring to work alone than in a team. It makes no sense to bring in these characters for what was a two/three-minute cameo and not even have them to help.

Overall I think that this is the most average Batman film that has been released by DC and really isn’t the best. There are a lot better Batman films done in the DCAU than what this is and that is my honest opinion.

Spider-Man: Homecoming & What Could Follow:

For quite a long time Spider-Man has always been one of my favourite superheroes of all time and it was one of the first comic series that I read when I got into comic books. I’ve also had a lot of fun watching the series since I was a 90’s kid and Spider-Man was a show that was usually on TV on Saturdays. Then fast-forward to last year and the revelation that Marvel managed to get the rights back to Spider-Man and that we were going to be getting him in Civil War as well as a stand-alone film set for Phase-3. These are the things that I have theories about for the film.

1: Will It Be Ultimate?: So since now that Spider-Man is in the Marvel universe I have a small wondering feeling if it will have any links towards the show Ultimate Spider-Man since that it is aired on Disney X-D. The show is currently in its fourth series and I wonder how much could be adapted for the film. For instance Peter in this incarnation is still in High School where I think that is the age that Peter is in Civil War (apologies to any Americans if I have this wrong, your education system is a bit confusing for me). In the show we also have characters such as White Tiger, Nova, Iron Fist and Power Man but there is a slight problem that we could have here and that is Iron Fist and Power Man are already slated (going to be slated) for a Marvel release since they already got their own shows thanks to Netflix. ultimatespiderman01In addition we don’t even have a confirmation for Nova since we have already seen the Nova Corp from Guardians of the Galaxy so there could be a rather slim chance that we could see a member on Earth anytime soon. The only character that I can think of that they can use if they were to go down the Ultimate route is White Tiger since there is going to be a female character in the film that won’t be a love interest according to sources and that is Zendaya.

2: Rise of the Iron Patriot: With the new addition of Tony Stark to the film there could now be a big chance that we could then see a new Norman Osborn using Starks technology to create his own armour of the Iron Patriot, which could then see Marvel then lead down the path to Dark Avengers.Norman-Osborn-unvieled The only character that I can think that may not be a part of this would possibly Daken since he is a mutant but so were Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch but they are in the main universe. But I am getting off topic here Norman Osborn in the past instalments has been rather sub-par. In the first film he was played by Willem Defoe and he did rather well, but he ended up dying which really sucked and then in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Norman was killed off for plot convenience which really pissed me off as a fan of the series. I thought that when Michael Keaton was announced to be in the film over the weekend I thought that he would be a right shoe in for Norman Osborn but after news articles I read he is no longer part of the casting I feel rather disappointed.

3: Shortened Uncle Ben Death: Now since that this is a new reboot of the Spider-Man universe and the news that there is going to be no origins for the character. We are most likely going to get a very shortened version of seeing Uncle Ben die, possibly in a similar way to where we saw Bruce Wayne’s parents die in either Batman Begins or possibly Dawn of Justice, so that were not going to be bogged down with what a lot of people who say Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man had to endure.death-uncle-ben-105940 It would be rather good if they did this in a flashback format since then they could use it more as a reason why Spider-Man does what he does when something comes up in the film where he needs reassurance on what he is doing is the right thing.

4: Better and Different Villains: Throughout the films that we have seen three different Green Goblins, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Venom, The Lizard, Electro and a terrible waste of Rhino. I am really hoping for this series of Spider-Man films to bring in a different range of villains that could be used rather well for Spider-Man through different number of movies, such as Loki has been used in the MCU being a threat not only to Thor but as well as for The Avengers. One of the characters I would like to see would be The Jackal since that he was part of a big story in the Spider-Man arc with The Clone Saga where we are introduced to Ben Reilly and Kaine who are clones of Peter Parker who both have taken up the mantle of Scarlet Spider. This would be a rather interesting villain to have after the second film since there could be some revelations that could make a really interesting film. The second villain I would like to see would be Alistair Smythe also known as the Spider-Slayer (also the Ultimate Spider-Slayer). He has had quite the many encounters in the series of Spider-Man as well as Spider-Man’s supporting cast as well over the past few years especially towards J. Jonah Jameson since that Smyth had killed his wife when Smythe tried to actually kill Jonah. My third pick for a villain would actually be something that has been a major point in the comics from last year and that is Morlun. Morlun_fire_001

For the people who don’t know who he is, Morlun is an entity from Earth-000that hunts all the Spider-Totems (anyone who is a Spider) through Marvel’s own Multiverse where he nearly killed Spider-Man in the story called Spider-Man: The Other. Morlun is a really good villain to have in the MCU and in addition this would be a really good way to bring in different earth Spider-Men as well for instance if they were to do this we could actually see Donald Glover as Miles Morales.

And this is what I have pretty much thought of what I would like to see from the new Spider-Man we now have, I just hope they don’t manage to screw him up somehow.

The Amazing Spiderman 2: The Good, The Bad and The Amazing? Review

Mark Webb’s latest Spiderman film opened up last Wednesday over here in the UK a fortnight before USA and possibly other countries so this review will have a number of spoilers in it so if you want to be spoiled then read on. These are my personal good and bad points other people may differ.

 The Good-

The beginning of the film starts of similar to what the first film started off but this focused around Richard Parker and a key point of the film called ‘Roosevelt’. Not only is this a good beginning for the film it also does show that somebody was hired to get whatever is connected to Roosevelt back. Some thoughts that me and my friend had was that it was either Oscorp or Hydra or possibly A.I.M (but that seems unlikely). Nevertheless it was a good beginning and does leave people with some questions.

The next point is Gwen’s valedictorian speech that she gives at the graduation ceremony. The way that she words the speech is important to the end of the film, which I will go into later, but with the scene she tells about moving on. (To be honest I’ve totally forgot about what happens but I will go on more at the end.

Next we get introduced to Harry Osborn played by Dana DeHaan, Donald Menken played by Colm Feore and Norman Osborn played by Chris Cooper. But the big thing that I truly never expected to happen in the film was that they killed off Norman Osborn in the very beginning. The way that he looked if he was dying from a experimental goblin formula but it turns out it’s a hereditary dieses that is also starting to affect Harry as well. To be fair when I saw this I was still thinking that it was a goblin formula to dieses. Other than that it was a good scene between DeHaan and Cooper.

All I got to say is that when Max Dillon gets tuned into Electro it is an amazing scene. After trying to repair a cable in a experiments room or a something that has to do with electricity getting then electrocuted by said cables and then bitten and gets transformed by eels is just an amazing villains origins. Then it’s revealed that he ‘dies’ and then wakes up in a crematorium after Menken sent him there to cover up another Oscorp mess up. Then we see the first appearance of Electro and Jamie Foxx gives a great performance as Dillon/Electro. All that Dillon wanted to be was noticed and manages to by draining Times Square electricity and then Spiderman comes in and tries to help Dillon but then manages to steal his spotlight. Dillon then drains more electricity and shows some of his true powers by destroying a few city blocks with a electrical blast that manages to do a lot of damage to few city blocks but Spiderman manages to take him down with the help of the NYFD. It also a really good use of special effects, defiantly when Spiderman saves people that are trapped on the staircase and the make-up effects of Electro are well done and do look a lot better than what it would have if it was the original Electro.

Next point to talk about was Gwen and Peter’s relationship, at the beginning of the film we all think that it’s been going okay, but then after graduation it turns out that Peter is second guessing after seeing visions of Gwen’s father everywhere that he goes. This is handled well, not great but well. But then later in the film there is some development when they decide just to be friends so that there then could be a possibility for them to get back together in the future, but it then turns out that Gwen has the opportunity to go to Oxford. This then leaves Peter with a decision to sacrifice what he had with Gwen for her future. He then starts to feel happy because he then was able to get closure about his father but then sad because she was able to get to place in Oxford. This then leads for Peter to web up a giant sign of ‘I Love You’ on the Brooklyn Bridge (I think) this then leads to Peter then accepting that Gwen going to Oxford would be the more better option for their relationship.

Next point is Harry Osborn turning into the Green Goblin, Harry gets access into Oscorp by helping Electro break out of Ravencroft and finding a way into getting a formula that may be able to help him reverse the effects that killed his father in the beginning of the film. But something bad happens when the remedy doesn’t work and starts to accelerate the goblin effects, he then manages to crawl into the infantry suit and it starts to heal the bad effects of the dieses. I found this scene to be really well done and it sort of reminded me of Revenge of the Sith when Obi-Wan chops of Lord Vaders legs and he starts crawling and crying in pain, it was similar but again my opinion.

s blood was used for the tests. Peter was also able to find out what Roosevelt was as well because it was another secret train base that seems like it could have been developed by SHIELD. So with that Peter finally could close the book on his family past and move on with the bigger problems in life.

The next point in the film that I would like to talk about is the second battle between Spiderman and Electro. In this one the upper hand goes to Electro because there fighting in an electrical station and Electro can now travel through the energy coils. Not only that but the music stings and the Tesla coils go well together and it creates an amazing scene as well as the slow motion effects as well. The scenes are shot really well and it then does lead up to possibly the saddest scene in the film.

The major point of the film for me was Gwen’s death. I knew that it was either going to happen in this film or the next but I would like to praise the writers for this by giving her a correct death, being that the same (near to) way that she dies in the comics by Spiderman trying to save her with the web-shooter and the cool effect where the web looks like that it was a hand reaching out for her but it wasn’t enough. It was a really sad scene and then it showed Peter being at her grave over the past seasons. He then manages to move on when he finds Aunt May packing away stuff that belonged to Uncle Ben and that gave him the idea to pack away his memories, but whilst he was doing that he finally decided to watch Gwen’s speech where it’s said that it’s time to move on. This was another good scene and it linked up well with the beginning of the film.

  The Bad-

For the past year or so there has been so much stick about the amount of villains that were in the film, for instance they said that they had cast people for Alistair Smyth, Felicia Hardy and Rhino. To be fare they pretty much had limited rolls in the film, Smyth was only in the film for at least two minutes at best Felicia was the same but at least Rhino had a part to play at the beginning and end of the film. So far this is what I’ve been hating about comic book films such as the long coming Man of Steel two as it has people who are meant to be Wonder Woman, Green Lantern or Cyborg even a number are minor characters in that universe as well.

Another bad moment for me was that there was mention of J. Jonah Jameson as Peter said that he was working for him, but yet through the film we did see Peter communicating to him but yet no face. This is why I’m hoping that they could try and get JK Simmons back to reprise his role as JJJ from the Sam Ramini Spiderman films because he did look like the comic book counterpart and it felt like that he was JJJ. I hope that he is in because that what make a lot of the good comedy of Spiderman when JJJ is around.

I think that a scene that could have went better was when Harry wanted Peter to help him with his near crippling disease that Spiderman may be able to help him with, as we know from the first film he was able to help Dr Connors with his research to regenerate limbs so why wouldn’t he try and help Harry, who has been his friend since his parents died wouldn’t try with his science background to try and think of a formula to at least help out Harry.

The final thing that I thought was bad is in fact a mixed point and it comes at the very end when Rhino appears in the suit, yes that’s right a suit. This is sort of a nod to what happens in the Ultimate Spiderman TV series that Rhino was given a robot suit to improve his powers. I think that this was rather a letdown as this is the AMAZING Spiderman not the Ultimate Spiderman, I’d rather like to see a CGI version of a cross species Rhino like in the Amazing Spiderman video game that came out with the first film, but then I think that would have looked strange as well. Either way it did look good but I’d prefer if they were to stick to the source material.

 The Amazing?-

The Amazing parts of the film was the revelation that Harry Osborn had an idea of building up a small force which then hints towards the Sinister Six (originally headed by Otto Octavius) where we see the same guy who visited Dr Connors when he was admitted goes into the secret project room in Oscorp and brings out the Rhino suit but we all so see two Easter eggs that were shown in the trailer where we see the Vultures Wings and Otto’s Tentacles. This is really hinting towards Sinister Six and it has been confirmed that there is a film in the works and hopefully it should be a good film.

Then going back to what I said about Vulture and Doc Ock been hinted I think that if there in the next film or the Sinister Six film then I hope that they can cast the right people for the roles because that would be a key point to have. You would need to cast somebody at least in their early 50’s for Vulture and somebody possibly in their early to mid 40’s for Otto because that’s where there would be more people that would have the correct feel for the villains, in my point anyway.

Even though I did say that the Rhino tank armour was a bad point it was also an amazing thing to see in the film itself. It looks rather badass and it looks like it can do about the same amount of damage, hell maybe even more than what the original Rhino could do. It may be the fact that we live in a more CGI world instead of picking a jacked up fighter or heavy set person to portray the Rhino similar how they casted Michael Clarke Duncan to play Kingpin in Daredevil. But it’s the directors choice to make.

Also going back to what I said about the Gentleman visiting Harry in Ravencroft I have been mulling over the possible identities of him. I think that it could actually be Norman Osborn and that him dying is all a ruse and that he is still alive. This theory may need more thinking over but at least it is one idea. The next idea that I have is that it is Miles Warren aka The Jackal who made the clones of Spiderman who then go on to star in their own series and makes sense why there is a guy who is curious about Spiderman.

Finally the thing that I found really amazing about the film was the acting from our two main villains, Jamie Foxx and Dana DeHaan. I’ve seen a number of Jamie Foxx’s works and they have been good but this performance has got to be in the top of his list. The way that he went from a sort of shy character that was fascinated by Spiderman after he got saved by him and then turning into Electro was just amazing. Also the fact that he decided to make his Electro his own character by developing a Clint Eastwood/ Alec Baldwin whispered voice which just felt really chilling. Then you have Dana DeHaan, I haven’t seen any of his works like Chronicle so I was going in blind on what he was like and I really liked his portrayal of Harry Osborn and Green Goblin. Since he found out that he was also going through the same genetic problems that his father was going through he was being desperate to find a cure and that showed something that James Franco’s Harry didn’t show and that was a true desperation into finding something. But his Goblin performance could have been better but it will probably be more developed in either the next film or Sinister Six.

My overall rating for the film is 8.5/10: It is possibly one of the best Marvel films this year but it won’t beat The Winter Soldier.

Moulin Rouge: The Good and The Bad

Moulin Rouge the film that launched the rebirth of musical cinema and to be really honest I never thought that I would actually watch this film. I was recommended this film by a couple of friends when I went to see The Hobbit 2 when we were talking about the Nostalgia Critic and how he did a musical review on it and I really liked it. My friends said that it was a good film and after months of patiently waiting for it to be shown on TV I finally got to watch it.

The Good

With this film there are a number of good things about this film. One being the old fairy tale type story between Christian, played by Ewan McGregor and Santine, played by Nicole Kidman. It’s the basic love at first sight story but with the slight twist that Santine has to fall for another guy called the Duke who has the means of financing the Moulin Rouge and have it turn into a theatre and also Santine knows that she is slowly dying from poisoning and she doesn’t let anyone emotionally close to her to know. I mean there have been a load of films that have had the love at first sight stories, hell Disney had made a profit from doing films like this. But with what happens in the film its one of the many things that I liked about the film.

The next thing that I liked were some of the song choices that were in the film, though this was also a bad thing which I will say in the next part. I liked a number of the songs either that they were well put for the emotions of the film, especially in the scene where the members of the production company are practicing a dance routine and the song that there singing is Roxanne, not only with the dance going on it goes well with the two other stories that go on with Santine forced to have a meal with the Duke but you also have Christian in a tortured state of mind on what his true feelings of Santine are. It also a well choreographed scene and one of the best parts of the film. Not only is the music used for seriousness but it also used as well for a weird comedy scene, mainly between The Duke and Harold Zidler where you have them singing Like a Virgin and my god is it a weird scene, but even though it was a weird scene after a few viewings it is really funny and another good moment.

Finally from the good was the end scene, it was a well put together scene where beforehand Santine had broke up with Christian because, as I stated before, she was dying. This then leads to the first night show where Christian finds to get a way onto the stage and starts degrading her in-front of the audience as she was no better than a common prostitute. But then the dwarf manages to get them to see the error of their ways with love and they then reunite and then the Duke tries to kill either Christian or Santine, possibly both, but fails and the gun goes hurtling out of the window, defying the laws of physics. This then leads to Santine in her last minutes of life and she dies in Christians arms this then leads to back at the beginning of the film where Christian is sitting in his room with the many pages of his experience and is possibly the saddest scene in the entire film.

 The Bad

Where there good there is always bad and for me there are many bad things about this film. The first I thought that some of the characters in the film where not good or bad but there were many points that I thought that it bordered on the ridiculous. The first character that I found ridiculous was the Duke I just found him to be an absolute control freak and there was such a over acting performance played as well. Plus even though that he says ‘I don’t like it when people touch my things’ he just walks out of the Moulin Rouge after failing to kill Christian or Santine. Other than that I found some of the other characters to be slightly annoying and just wondering why they are there including the woman that drops hints at the Duke that Christian and Santine are more than acting partners. Another person that’s just there for a scene is when a guy comes out of nowhere and punches the Duke and manages to save Santine.

The next bad thing for me about the film is a majority of all the songs that were used in the film were all modern songs. To be fair most of the songs were also used for the majority of the script. Other than that I thought that it was too much. I mean with the songs that I mentioned beforehand went good with the film there were many that just where absolutely mad and strange. The first being basically the opening line from Sound of Music, then there was Lady Marmalade when they arrived at the Moulin Rouge and then when Santine and Christian first met there were so many love song titles sung it was so annoying. Also the film said the world love more times than the combined title reigns of Ric Flare, the Green Bay Packers and Boston Celtics.

Finally the thing that I most hated about the film was why would Santine hide such a big secret from Christian. I mean sure it would have been such a more shorter film if they did have Santine confessing that she was dying and then it would have more focused around the last days between Christian and Santine. But if it was done on more of a modern day it would have been better if more people knew that she was dying, I think even Zidler knew that she was dying but still she just powered on to do what was best for her and the Moulin Rouge. If this situation were to ever happen to me I would want to make sure that she was actually okay because then that would be the true reason of love coming out instead of the hours (well days in the film) of building up a secret romance to be then revealed that she was on her last stand. It’s still a thing that I can’t wrap my head around but I guess that’s for other people to decide. But I think that a reason behind it that Santine didn’t want to hurt Christian feelings and she decides to try and be the bad guy by saying that she never loved him, even though she really does. Then he goes on to berate her in front of an audience to calling her a prostitute and paying her for her services. But if Christian really loved her I think that he wouldn’t have went to crash the play and he would have found out later that she had died. But I don’t think that would have been interesting at all to have seen. But when he said all the cruel things to her and the dwarf managed to get them back together was a strange part because if anyone was to do that nowadays it would have ended up with somebody being punched.

Overall

For this film I thought that it was a really good film and it brought musical films back into main stream cinema with films like Chicago or Les Mis but we should also blame them for films like High School Musical. Other than that it is a good film that does deliver with good musical numbers even being jukebox styled. I give it a 8/10.

5 Reasons For A Deadpool Film

Image

Ever since X-Men Origins: Wolverine I have thought that they could have done a better job with Wade Wilson ( portrayed by Ryan Reynolds). To be really honest he didn’t do the best job as the Merc with a Mouth and when he got turned into the muttie known as Weapon XI I thought it just looked terrible. But here are my 5 reasons why there should be a rebooted Deadpool.
5. Reboot Success
In the past few years some Marvel finds have done really well with rebooting such films as the Captain America and Spider-Man which have went over good with film fans. Also the new X-Men film series doing well there would be a chance that a Deadpool film would do well.
4. Stories
With Deadpool’s past story lines there are many that can be adapted to the screen. Starting with a true origins story instead of being dropped into a film with out much of a back story. Then in later films adding more of his rouges and allies in next films would make the series more better.
3. The Comedy
I’ve been playing the video game and read a few Deadpool comics and the comedy within it is quite good and hilarious in itself as he is one of the few character’s that has a inner monologue/ dialogue that makes him even more funnier.
2. X-Force/ Cable/Deadpool?
With the announcement of X-Force film it could hint a future spot for Deadpool. Also cause the film’s main character is the futuristic Cable it could lead to a crossover film.
1. Better Casting
With Ryan Reynolds being casted in Origins he only had one good line, but I believe that there are many better actors that can be the Merc with the Mouth.
