NXT: Takeover: Dallas Predictions

So for the past few weeks I have been paying a lot of attention to NXT and I got to say being compared to what Raw and Smackdown have been putting out, this seems to be the better material that they are doing. There is a lot of great talent on this roster and they just keep adding great names every month.

Austin Aries v Baron Corbin:

Now this can be pretty good. You have Baron Corbin who seems to be a person that can do rather well but just lacks something rather good, I don’t know if either his character that just seems to be slightly lazy but I think that if they had a minor title (possibly a TV title) I think that Corbin could do well with it. Then on the other hand you have a established wrestler like Samoa Joe, Kevin Owens coming into a company and pretty much taking it over and I hope that’s not what they’re not going to do Aries. I think that this can be a really good match since that Aries can tell a pretty good story when it comes to wrestling and I say that Aries will win.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match:The Revival v American Alpha:

This is going to be another quick one and that is I think that American Alpha are going to win the titles. The reason that I think that they are going to do this is because I see that The Revival are going to wind up on the main roster since the tag team division there is pretty lack lustre and could do with a lot of fresh faces. But I do think that American Alpha can get the win since they’ve been on a pretty good roll so far.

Sami Zayn v Shinsuke Nakamura:

Well I bet a lot of people, except for the people who where there at Full Sail University didn’t see this coming. This is going to be a really exciting match for the debuting Shinsuke Nakamura since he is going up against a former NXT champion and this is going to be a pretty good send off match for Zayn since he is moving on up to the main roster and currently feuding with Kevin Owens which is a match that I think I’m looking forward for WrestleMania if that’s happening. But back to this, it is going to be a great match for fans to see since that there will be people who a WWE faithful that may have never seen Nakamura wrestle before and I gotta say if you haven’t just go and search videos of his matches and you know why he is going over greatly with the crowds. Nakamura is going to get a win.

NXT Women’s Championship Match: Bailey v Asuka:

All I got to say is that I am glad that this match is Bailey facing off against Asuka since that I think that if we saw Eva Marie face her again people would be only behind Bailey all the way through since she is a terrible wrestler that needs more time in the performance centre than on Total Divas. Anyway I think, like what Nia Jacks was like at Takeover: London it is going to be a really good challenge for Bailey. I have seen pretty much all the matches that Asuka has had on NXT and she is an amazing competitor and her time that she’s had wrestling in Japan and other territories shows how well she has done. I think that Bailey is going to win the match but it’s going to be a close match to call.

NXT Championship Match: Finn  Balor v Samoa Joe:

A rematch from Takeover: London, we may end up with a really big change now in NXT, since the fact that WWE and Balor have been pushing the idea around forming the ‘Bulletproof’ faction where Balor could be leading since that former Bullet Club members could be making their way to NXT where I think that they could do rather well and just think of the idea of a large stable on a Takeover PPV would be insane and who have people talking about it. I think that Balor is going to retain here for the fact that he is a really good champion and a goof face of NXT. Samoa Joe on the other hand should have been played like what they did with AJ Style and have him go to the main roster instead since that he was a worldwide known name and that I think that if he was on the main roster we could possibly been in contention or holding a mid-card belt right for WrestleMania season. Never the less I so believe that Balor is going to retain, possibly due to possible interference since sometimes WWE are rather good with keeping plans shut down tight so dirt-sheets can’t get any leaks.

Top 5 Films 3-2

So here we go with the second part of the list and where I did have some problems deciding what to put down but here’s the next batch.

3: Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods:

I have always been a fan of Dragon Ball Z when I was a kid but for a long time I just fell out of the loop for long time. But for the past few years I have been getting back in and reliving some really good shows and film and the first new Dragon Ball Z film, which got adapted into the first part of Dragon Ball Super.

The first film introduces a few new characters to the series. One being a God of Destruction called Beerus and the other called Whis who is a person that is Beerus teacher where it is revealed later in the film that Whis is actually stronger than Beerus. Whis informs Beerus that Freeza has been defeated by a Super Saiyan and Beerus recalls that he stated 35 (possibly 39) years ago that he would in fact meet a Super Saiyan God, Whis finds out that a Saiyan is currently on North Kai’s planet and they travel to it. On North Kai’s planet Goku is training when King Kai tells him to go inside since that he can somehow sense Beerus approaching. Beerus is wondering why King Kai hasn’t introduced Goku and then Goku challenges him to a quick spar where Goku shows Beerus all of his different Super Saiyan forms and they begin fighting and Beerus pretty much owns Goku knocking him out of SSJ3, which was the form that he used to take out Majin Buu.

Meanwhile of Earth Bulma is celebrating her birthday along with the different alums from the show. Vegeta is then contacted by King Kai warning him that Beerus is coming and that he was able to take out Goku in SSJ3. In addition to this Pilaf, Mai and Shu have sneaked into the party looking for the Dragon Balls but Trunks walks in on them. He then calls over Goten where Pilaf and co think that it is actually Goku. They escape taking one Dragon Ball, and when Yamcha realises that there are only six and Mai holds Trunks hostage with a gun. Gohan turns into Saiyan-Man and asks Mai to shoot him but then two bullets then hit Videl, Gohan’s wife (I think from this version) and also Beerus. Dende heals Videl’s wound and notices something about her that she wants to keep secret. Beerus does get annoyed by this but then Vegeta manages to calm him down. But when Beerus wants to try some pudding Buu doesn’t share any with him and starts fighting with pretty much everyone there. They all try to do their best but are no match, even Trunks and Goten fusing into Gotenks wasn’t any good. Bulma confronts Beerus yelling at him for disrupting her party and then slaps Beerus and the Beerus slaps her back causing Vegeta to be in a fit of rage, possibly out powering Goku, but he didn’t stand up to Beerus but lasted longer than the others. Goku then appears causing Beerus to stop his rampage and asks Bulma if he can use the Dragon Balls to summon Shenlong to find out about a Super Saiyan God, where in the images that they were showing showed SSJ4 the form used in Dragon Ball GT, and Shenlong said that five Saiyans of pure heart can transfer their power to become a God.

They try this for the first time with Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks and Goten but he was only to gain more strength and had no form change. Piccolo points out that they understood it wrong where they actually needed six Saiyans with the sixth being given the power. Videl then reveals something that was brought up quickly before and that is she is pregnant with Gohan’s child, and that means that the child she is carrying is one quarter Saiyan. They retry the ritual and this time it works with a blue aura essence coming from each person and Goku transforms into Super Saiyan God. Goku tells that he is ready to fight Beerus and they start fighting. The most interesting thing to come from this is something that I have never noticed that much from Goku and that he seems really disappointed with himself for not being able to reach this form on his own and that he needed others to help him. I expected this more from Vegeta than I did Goku and it did make me think more about Goku’s character. But then after about 10 minutes of fighting and the God form drops reducing Goku to a Super Saiyan form where he manages to actually keep up rather well. They then head out into space where Goku realises that he has dropped God form Beerus then unleashed a destruction blast that Goku tries to block but he starts to become weaker. He then has visions that he has a lot of people counting on him and then manages to access God form and manages to destroy the blast. Beerus gets Goku to admit that he is defeated and then reveals that Goku was the second strongest person that he has ever faced noting that Whis is stronger than him and is also is Beerus teacher. When they get back on to Earth Beerus goes ahead with the destruction by blowing up a small rock and they leave.

Bulma’s party continues on and discover that Goku was on Earth when Bulma got slapped. Meanwhile back on Beerus planet he reveals that he was only facing Goku with 70% and then the film pretty much ends there.

It is a really good film and it is a definite recommendation to people who like watching Dragon Ball Z back in the day. Also with the current animation design all the characters look pretty much amazing. I am on the other hand looking forward to when Dragon Ball Super gets an English dub from FUNimation since that there is going to be more content for it.

 2: Aliens:

This is a good case of when a sequel can be better than the original and all in some of the best ways I freaking love watching Aliens. It’s a strong sequel and it was the total opposite of what the original Alien film was but still kept a lot as well from it.

So the film takes place pretty much as how Alien had ended with Ripley being rescued after being drifting through space for what turned out later to be 57 years. She then gets debriefed by Weyland-Yutani Corporation over what had happened with the ship she was on in Alien, where they were all sceptical that a ‘Alien’ had killed the crew can she was forced to destroy the ship. Meanwhile on LV-426 the Alien eggs are then found by the people that are terraforming the planet then loose communication with them afterwards. With this a W-Y representative Carter Burke and a Colonial Marine Lieutenant Gorman asks Ripley to return to the planet with them but she refuse but then starts having nightmares about the ‘Alien’ and then accompanies them to the planet, only for them to go and destroy the ‘Aliens’ and not return them two earth. When they arrive on the planet they discover makeshift barricades and signs of a struggle, but there were no bodies. In a lab that they have set up it is discovered that they have two face-huggers in containment tanks and discover a survivor called Newt. The crew uses the computers and finds out that the colonists are located beneath the Fusion Powered atmosphere processing station where they then discover Alien secretions all over the walls. They discovered the whereabouts of the colonists and they are cocooned, what turns out to be incubating hosts for the Aliens offspring. When the Marines killed one of the offspring the other Aliens that were around ambushed and either killed and captured several of the Marines. Ripley takes over the vehicle that dropped them in, which looks like a really large version of the Batmobile from The Dark Knight Returns, where they manage to save three of the marines. Hicks calls in the drop ship for them to evacuate them, yet a Alien that stowaways and kills the pilots. The survivors then all barricade themselves in the colony.

Ripley then discovers that Burke had deliberately sent the colonists to the planet where the ship had been to harvest the eggs and use them for biological weapons and become wealthy. But then Bishop intervenes and informs them that the power plant was damaged during the battle and it will soon detonate with a force of a 40 megaton thermonuclear device. He then goes on to volunteer himself to go through the piping conduits so that he can remote pilot the final drop ship from the Sulaco. Meanwhile Ripley and Newt fell asleep in the medical lab where they find themselves locked in the room with the two face-huggers that were in containment, Ripley raises a fire alarm where the Marines broke them out and Ripley accuses Burke straight away. He admits his back-up plan that he had in mind that being having the Aliens impregnate Ripley and Newt and getting them past Earths quarantine and then killing the Marines in hyper sleep so that no one can contradict them. Before the Marines can kill Burke the electricity is cut and then the Aliens then make another attack this time killing three more of the Marines and capturing Newt. Ripley and an injured Hicks manage to make their way back to the second dropship but Ripley refuses to leave since she wants to get Newt back. She equips herself with the film’s most infamous weapon, the flamethrower and rescues Newt, where they discover something rather shocking, an Alien Queen in the Egg Chamber. Ripley and Newt manage to get back to the dropship and reach a safe distance and see the colony being enveloped in a nuclear blast.

On the Sulaco the group feels relived that they survived this only for the Queen to make an appearance and tears Bishop in two. The Queen tries and goes after Newt but Ripley manages to stop her in an Exosuit and expels the Queen into space. Ripley, Newt, Hicks and Bishop into hypersleep and the film ends there.

This, again, is one of the best sequels that I have ever seen from any franchise may that be Star Wars, Marvel, DC and so forth. The connection between Ripley and Newt is so well done since the fact that when Ripley had returned to Earth 57 years had passed and by that she had missed the chance to see her daughter grow up and seeing Ripley go all the way through a Alien infested compound to go rescue a kid that she has know for only a few hours to have a second chance at motherhood. I on the other hand was really devastated what they had then done for the sequel to this and just ruined the whole motive for Ripley for the film and that was killing off Newt, I was so disappointed and I hope that with the Prometheus 2/ Alien Covenant that will be coming out in the next few years will rectify this.

Top 5 Films: 5-4

So for the past few weeks that I’ve been deciding this list and have kept changing it every time that I write a short list and with this one I am going to stick with it and this also helps me more so I’m not wasting time sitting in front of a screen to write notes about a film and then go to try and write them up after wards.

So let’s get this list on the roll.

5: Spaceballs:

I remember that there was one time when I was young that I remember watching this film and then for a long time I couldn’t think of what it was called. Then years later I got to watch it on Netflix then later on DVD and I got to day I remember why I loved watching the film. Mel Brooks is a comedy genius from the era and is something that I really do miss from the parody films that we have today.

The film is a rather spoof of Star Wars heavily based off A New Hope and I believe Empire Strikes Back. The film begins with a long establishing shot of a Spaceball 1 that takes forever sort of homage to films that have the long establishing shots like Alien. We then see our villain for the film called Dark Helmet (played by Rick Moranis) who is informed that Druidia is in their sights to abduct the princess so that they can suck the air out of the planet and use it for Planet Spaceballs. On the planet we see the princess called Vespa (played by Daphne Zuniga) who is uncertain that she wants to marry the person that her father had arranged and then runs off when she gets down the aisle along with her robot sidekick called Dot Matrix (voiced by Joan Rivers). They escape with Dark Helm in pursuit. The king then contacts our heroes of the film Barf (played by John Candy) who is pretty much the Chewbacca of the film and Lone Star (played by Bill Pullman) who will be our resident Han Solo. The King gives them a reward for them to bring Vespa back being one million Space Bucks so that they can pay off Pizza the Hut. They rescue Vespa from the ship and manage to also block the scanners of the ship by throwing a jam jar at the radar. We then get a really cool scene where Michael Winslow is a Radar Technician where he uses is famous skills where he creates the sounds to seem that the radar is working for. Afterwards Spaceball 1 tries to catch up with Lone Stars Winnebago which goes into light-speed but Dark Helm gets them to go ahead of them by going to ludicrous speed where they end up overtaking them by a long shot which then sets up one of the most popular scenes and makes it something of a good comedy when they break the fourth wall by obtaining a copy of the Spaceballs film where they use to find the location of where Lone Star and Vespa went. Lone Star and company ended up crashing on a desert moon and they walk around the desert before being found by the Dinks (not the clown faction from WWE) who bring them to a small building and are introduced to Yogurt (played by Mel Brooks) where they make a few really good jokes including a Temple of Doom reference as well as a yogurt joke as well. Lone Star is also introduced to ‘Force’ homage of the film that is called the Schwartz where they get powers from magical rings which they then end up abandoning for the end of the film. Dark Helm finds out where Vespa is and tricks her to come out where they take her aboard Spaceballs 1 and takes off. Dark Helm and President Skroob (also Brooks) then transforms Spaceballs 1 into Mega Maid. Lone Star finishes his Schwartz training with Yogurt and manages to reverse Mega Maid’s vacuum and returns the air to the planet. Lone Star rescues Vespa, battle Dark Helm and has Dark Helm to accidently hit the self destruct button causing everyone on Spaceballs 1 to evacuate and to then just have Dark Helm, Skroob and Sanderz who are blasted away in the head of Mega Maid crashing on a planet where Apes are present. Lone Star returns Vespa to Druidia and leaves without taking the reward and heads off to head to a diner and then onwards to new places where there is a really good cameo from John Hurt who reprise his role from Alien where he has a chestburster coming out of his chest and they then leave. Lone Star then gives Barf a fortune cookie where Yogurt appears and tells Lone Star that he infact a prince and can now be with Vespa. He returns to Druidia and interrupts the wedding and he and Vespa get married and the film ends on a happy ending.

I freaking enjoy this film, I am a huge fan of good parody comedy films such as this and I wish there was more films like this nowadays. Then we also have rumours going round that there is a supposed sequel in the works and I really hope that happens because I really do think that we need one more Mel Brooks film in this lifetime to make up for all the terrible comedy’s that we have nowadays.

4: Scooby Doo on Zombie Island:

I remember watching this film when I was a kid on Cartoon Network back in the day when they used to have a really good cartoon block. It was one of the few Scooby Doo films I remember watching from when I was a kid and I really enjoyed it and finally bought it on DVD last year.

The reason why I love this film is that it seems completely different to what the show was where you would find out what the monster was, introduced to characters with one of them probably being the villain and then a resolve with a elaborate trap revealing the bad guy. But with this it shows a lot of that for the first 10 or so minutes where they are filming for a television show where there is nothing but people in costumes. But when they arrive in New Orleans they are given a lead to a place called Moonscar Manor where it is lead to believe that there have been reported sites of paranormal goings on. They arrive on the island they are introduced the owner called Simone Lenoir and through the first part of the films she gives a lot a exposition about the manor such as information about Morgan Moonscar, how his ship was used in the construction of the manor and that it was also used in the America Civil War as a Confederate headquarters. Also in the film Fred starts out pretty much as a sceptic saying that the footage they caught of Moonscar was a hologram and that a zombie that they manage to come in contact with was a fake but when the head comes off he starts thinking that it is more real. Scooby and Shaggy then manage to stumble onto some really big clues when they go into a cave and discover wax dolls of Fred, Daphne and Velma which they play with and cause involuntary actions for a short time. Fred, Daphne, Velma and Beau then head back to the manor where they discover a hidden passage that leads down to a secret voodoo chamber where Lena says that zombies had taken Simone down, however Velma discovers that there are heel prints and that she wasn’t dragged by zombies. Simone then appears and she and Lena use the voodoo dolls to trap them in the chamber where they then turn into werecats. This was freaking awesome for me to see as a child where it turned out that this time it was a human that turned into the villain. They reveal themselves and say that they drain the souls off of their victims who stay on the island every harvest moon. Shaggy and Scooby however find the person that ferried them over where it turns out too that he was a werecat as well. Simone then gives the gang the back story of what had happened to them. They were originally from 1797 where they found themselves and their group of settlers being attacked by Morgan Moonscar and his crew where except for the two were forced and killed by alligators. They had went to the temple where they begged their cat God to put curse on the pirates which killed them but then with all wishes came a price where they were turned into werecats to preserve their immortality. Lena was used to seduce people to come to the island and Jacques were used to ferry them to the manor. It turns out that every year the during the harvest all the zombies of the people they kill over the years are reanimated and that the warnings that they had been getting earlier in the film were trying to prevent what had happened to them. Jacques manages to corner Scooby and Shaggy but then gets attacked by zombies giving them the chance to escape where they end up falling down a whole where the ritual is taking place and distracting the werecats there. After a bit of scuffling and some zombies coming for some revenge, Velma manages to release herself and unties the others. They then create doll versions of Simone and Lena and recreate what Shaggy and Scooby accidently did to them. When the zombies enclose them, the curse they were under turned them to dust after failing to absorb souls. This also gives the zombies the chance to live the rest of their lives with some sort of solace. Daphne then realises that since the camera got trashed there was no way for her to do her show, when Beau then reveals that he is infact a undercover police officer sent to investigate the disappearances. Daphne then gets to use the idea of having Beau as a guest since the he can cohobate the story since he was there.

Then the film ends there and I got to say out of all of the Scooby Doo films that have been direct-to-dvd/video releases this is by far the best one that they have made for the fact that it was one of a few films that did have a rather unknown element to it. Another thing that was great about it like I said before that it had a darker tone than the original series and is something that I wish they did more for these films since when you looks at all the different cultures that you have they could adapt something similar and create a really good story. I would recommend this to anyone who has watched Scooby Doo from any series that they watched it from either the original series or Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, and remember this time, the monsters are real.
